Rest. Do we even know what this means?
Pausing or taking a break is not a common in America. We continue to live in a world that never slows down! With that being said, it’s important for you to be intentional about giving yourself a chance to recuperate not only in your everyday life but in your fitness journey as well.
Jason and I have been pushing ourselves in the gym the last eight weeks and it’s now time for us to take a break. Well, our break is going snowboarding in Breckenridge, Colorado, but hey, it’s still a break! This trip gives us the opportunity to escape the crowded, stuffy gym and enjoy the Colorado air (nothing like it).
I encourage you to find rest throughout the year. Go hard in the gym for eight weeks and then take a week off. Scheduling a week off will help you return to your workout stronger and ready to challenge your body once again. Many endurance athletes end their season with a week off and many weightlifters will take a week off from their program every four to eight weeks.
My struggle is slowing down in life. My 2018 goal is to find rest in the seasons of chaos and I hope the same for you.
